The Nautical Club of Vouliagmeni positively shocks the world of water polo, as the Greek team announced the hiring of Vladimir Vujasinovic!
The water polo legend from Serbia took over the men‘s team of Vouliagmeni, and this is important news for all passionate fans of the sport throughout Europe.
After signing his contract with the Vouliagmeni Nautical Club, the legendary Vladimir Vujasinovic said:
“I am extremely pleased to become the new coach of the Vouliagmeni Nautical Club, a club that I have always appreciated. I would like to thank the people of the team for their trust and hope together we will achieve all the goals that will be set. I‘m looking forward to this new start and cannot wait for next season.“
During his playing career, he won two Olympic bronze medals (FR Yugoslavia team in 2000 Olympics and Serbia team at 2008 Olympics), an Olympic silver medal (Serbia and Montenegro team at 2004 Olympics), and numerous other titles. He has been entitled as the best water polo player in the world several times. In 2003 he was pronounced the most excellent athlete in Serbia and Montenegro, and in 2005 the Olympic Committee of Serbia and Montenegro declared him to be the best sportsman. Vujasinović has opposed 341 matches for his country and scored 391 times. In 2011, his then club VK Partizan won the National Championship and National Cup of Serbia, LEN Euroleague (his fourth overall), LEN Super Cup (his third overall), Eurointer League, and Tom Hoad Cup.
The new Vouliagmeni head coach started his coaching career at Partizan in 2013 and led the Serbian team to four consecutive championships, while together they reached the semifinals of the Champions League twice. His team was the most youthful average in the tournament.
In 2016 he signed to his favorite Pro Recco, and won everything in the domestic competitions, while he reached the Champions League final in Genoa in 2018. In 2019 Vujasinovic took over VK Novi Beograd, remaining on the bench until Autumn of 2021.
